2015/06/14 今年も ニューサイクリング誌の編集長だった故今井彬彦氏を偲び ニューサイ誌に影響を受け今も自転車とサイクリングをこよなく愛すサイクリストが 故人が好きだった信州の杖突峠に集まる集合サイクリングに参加してきました。 杖突 峠までのコースは自由ですが、5月に逝去されたツーリング車乗り共通の友人atsさんの追悼ランとして 同氏も走った鏡湖経由のコースを走ろうと地黒団子奈さんの呼びかけがありました。 atsさんは例年今井編集長メモリアルランに参加されていて今年も参加する予定だった様です。 諏訪 南峠 茅野鏡湖にて小休止 板室林道にて鏡湖コースで杖突峠を目指す仲間 諏訪中央公園ー茅野ー鏡湖ー（板室林道）ー杖突峠ー峠茶屋ー杖突峠ー松尾峠ーもみじ湖ー後山 ...

次回この記事の日本語版を投稿します。 What is"Pedaloco"? Pedaloco is the name of a bicycle produced in the early 1950's by a Japanese manufacturer known as Hikari. The name is derived from the combination of"pedal" and the abbreviated form of train, ie"loco" thus rendering"Pedaloco". Take close look at the the pedals. Notice anything unusual? Yes, lever-action similar to what would be found on a train. I received a request from Y-san who is looking for information on this very rare bicycle. I remember years ago having posted this photo along with other Japanese vintage bicycles (Japanese only) from a 1953 export catalog shown below. Years ago a fellow enthusiast, now living in Germany and working at a museum as a"restorer" sent me the following information. The below magazine is entitled"Science Club" from the early 1950s. 次回、この記事の日本語版を投稿します。 As mentioned in Bicycle Assembly? in Japan retailers were actually extended factory processes since bicycles were shipped as"kits", and,"final assembly" and"final inspection" were both performed at the retailer. The introduction of JIS ensured that individual parts met specific industrial standards. However, again, since bicycles were shipped as kits and assembled at the retailer there were no standards governing the final assembly and inspection process. In Bicycle Assembly? , it was noted that in the late 1950's the process of applying JIS to the retailers began. And, by 1960 retailers had to be qualified in assembly and inspection, and, enter into a contract with the manufacturer in order to sell completed bicycles bearing the coveted JIS mark . 前回の 「鑑札・標識・籍証?」 では、へッドチューブ用の鑑札・標識・籍証を見ました。
今回は、リア泥除け用の鑑札・標識・籍証を見てみましょう。
これは未使用の標識版です。
現代の自動車と同じように登録された地域と番号が載っています。
旧漢字が使用されています、自轉車。
秋田県のものです。
これは非常に古くて番号まで漢字です。

もちろん自転車の「転」は旧漢字⇒自轉車。
次回の鑑札・標識・籍証?では、珍しい鑑札を取り上げます。

次回この記事の日本語版を投稿します。 In the previous post Bicycle Assembly?, it was noted that in Japan retailers were actually extended factory processes since bicycles were shipped as"kits", and,"final assembly" and"final inspection" were both performed at the retailer. To setforth standards and ensure quality, retailers had to be qualified in assembly and inspection in order to sell completed bicycles bearing the coveted JIS mark . At the time, the JIS mark was the only assurance a customer had, other than word of mouth, regarding the quality of a product. In preparation for introducing JIS, and, to better prepare retailers for assembly and inspection tests, manufacturers produced booklets to explain why JIS is essential, and why retailers need to be qualified in order to sell their product bearing the JIS mark. As mentioned in a previous series "Why the 1950's?" to correct inferior quality and establish a legal base for manufacturing standards, in June 1949 Japan enacted The Industrial Standardization Law which became the foundation for JIS (Japan Industrial Standards) . However, in the case of the bicycle industry, this was implemented incrementally spanning ten years from 1953 to 1962. So by the early 1960's the industry was standardized, and, processes that were previously done by hand painting, plating, etc., became automated. Which is why I prefer bicycles from the 1950's since during this period bicycles, to a certain extent, were still being"crafted".
