In the previous six posts, Sprung Leather Bicycle Saddles (Part 1) , (Part 2) ,? (Part 3) ， (Part 4), ? (Part 5) ?and (Part 6) we took a look at various leather saddle styles from the 1950's : (800 series) ,? (750 series), ? (900 series) ， (500 series), ? (600 series) ?and (1300 series) respectively.
Starting with this installment, we shall begin to take a look at tools used to maintain sprung leather saddles.??
Let's start with a tool called the "hammock saddle stretcher".?
You may recall that the? "hammock" (800 series) ?saddle was introduced in the? first installment (Part ?1) ?As the name implies, this tool is used to pull the leather on this style of bicycle saddle taunt.? ?In the past, prior to obtaining this tool, I resolved the issue of a flabby hammock saddle by giving it a "tummy tuck" (?link only in Japanese but photos tell the story).
The hammock saddle stretcher is a fairly simple tool.?

In the previous five posts, Sprung Leather Bicycle Saddles (Part 1) , (Part 2) ,? (Part 3) ， (Part 4) ?and (Part 5) we took a look at various leather saddle styles from the 1950's : (800 series) ,? (750 series), ? (900 series) ， (500 series) ?and (600 series) respectively.
In this installment we shall take a glance at yet another style, albeit a lesser known one.?
Depending on the manufacturer the model number varied but this saddle style was commonly referred to as the 1300 series.
Compared to the front suspension in the other models we've seen so far (800 series) , (750 series) , (900 series) and (500 series) , less suspension in the front, only single base springs (wires) which is even less than the (600 series) .
The rear has two springs but different design compared to the (750 series) , (900 series) ,? (500 series) and (600 series) .

2016年4月9〜10日 杏村こと長野県千曲市（旧更埴市森地区）を花見ポタリング 数ヶ月ぶりに土日が公休になった（普段は平日休みが多い）折角なので輪行で楽しめるところに行ってみようと思い立った。 （首都圏内の鉄道は平日はほぼラッシュで輪行袋を持っての乗車は困難） さて何処へ、大好きな信州もアルプスの峠や林道はまだ一寸早いし桜の名所もありきたりだし、、、 ふと10年程前に行った旧更埴市（現千曲市）の通称「杏の里」こと 更埴 森、倉科地区のことを思い出した。 千曲市観光協会のHPで開花情報を確認すると残念ながら山里一帯がまるで桃色の霞の様に染まる 里はピークを過ぎ落花してしまった様だが里山の上の方はまだ花が咲いている様だ 夜勤明け急いで北陸新幹線の指定を取り心躍らせる。 ...
