As mentioned in my previous posts ( Part 1 and Part 2 ) I decided to build my own Hikari starting with a genuine Hikari frame and then adding genuine Hikari parts and parts from the same period when I was unable to find genuine Hikari parts. 今日はランドナーに乗って和田峠に行くことにした。 なぜかというと、先日、京都の旅行車専門店のオリジナルタイヤ、といってもパナソニック製なのだけれど、それに付け替えたので、試したかったわけです。 そもそも私のランドナーは、娘が生まれる前にトーエイさんでフルオーダーしたフレーム。 たしか15年前。 その時に、ユッチンソンの650x35Aのタイヤを履いた時に皮ワッシャーを一枚でマッドガードのクリアランスがきっちりと出るようにして、と言ってオーダーしたもの。 リムも決めておかないと行けないよと言われたのも覚えています。 自分で組んだのですけれど、指定通りにぴったりと仕上がり、満足していました。 しかし、ユッチンソンはコットンのアメサイドのタイヤで重たく、結局アルプスのオープンサイ ...

2010年12月4日 世田谷ポタ、「長谷川自転車商会」?代田橋「手打蕎麦 まるやま」 最近、地元横浜や新潟妙高遠征などして御無沙汰だったあのお店の蕎麦が 無性に食べたくなり、久々に世田谷?杉並方面に昼飯ポタリング ロードモデルに乗ってる時は甲州街道を走ってしまうが、 ランドナーだとあえて小径を選びながらまったり走ってしまう。 甲州街道から一歩は入った神田川沿いの小径は黄色い絨毯を敷いた様になっていました。 こういうところを優雅に走ってサマになるところがランドナーの魅力の一つ 冬晴れの空と銀杏のコントラストが素晴らしい ＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝

I'll be back with another English post soon, until then stay trued and happy wheels! 昭和20年代後半?30年代前半の2人の自転車ファン（ S-サン と W-さん ）のお陰で、実にいい状態の光号高級モデルを観賞できました。 これから自分の光号を作ってみたいと思っています。 ２年以上前に入手した 新古品 光高級フレーム を使って、自分の光号を作ることにしました。 但し、フレームがあっても、パーツがありません。 ５５年以上前のパーツを探すのさえ難しいので、 当時の特定メーカー（大日本機械工業）の特定モデル（光号）の純正パーツを見つけるのは無理に近いでしょう。 結局、純正光パーツはいくつ見つかりましたが、見つからなかった場合はメーカーに拘らずに、当時の純正パーツを使うしかありませんでした。 純正パーツの紹介: ...

師走入りしましたが。。

通勤途中の高尾では半分以上散ってますがまだ紅葉が楽しめます。今年の秋は美しい上に長く楽しめて良いですねぇ。気候も暖かめですし過ごし易いです。
先月の２３日には遅ればせながら秋のアイズラリーと称して馴染みのお客様とツーリングに出かけました。今年はなんだか忙しくてプライベートで走る機会がほとんどなかったので店の裏山「持越峠-京見峠」という超お気楽コースにしてみました。結局、お昼に「ハンバーグ定食」、おやつに「わらびもち」(皆は「ぜんざい」)を食し、完全にカロリーオーバーな一日。写真は持越峠の手前でウダウダしているところ。そこには実用車で同じコースを行く「ママチャリスト｣たちが！とたんに皆グランボアの営業マンに早変わりです。あー、思い出しても楽しかったです。主催者 ...

熊におびえて入山峠

恥ずかしながら入山峠の存在は知らなかった。 いつも和田峠ばっかりであの激坂は寄る年波を考えると毎週は辛い。 そこで、今回はふつうの斜度の入山峠に行ってみようと考えたのだが、一般車両通行止めの林道なので、熊が怖い。 最近、熊谷達也さんの小説を読んでいて、それまでは本州の熊なんて、犬に毛の生えたようなものと考えていたのが覆されてしまい、怖い。 一応熊避けの鈴を装備して行ったが、とりあえず現地付近で、本当に行くかどうか決めることしした。 いつも単独行なのだけれど、こういう時はグループで行きたいと思う。 この橋をわたり前方の車両通行止めを脇から進むか、どうか、ちょっと迷うが、ここまで来たら行こうと思う。 なんでも最後はエイヤなんですな。 さすがに車が通らない ...

Since I already own a NOS Hikari frame I decided to build my own Hikari. However, trying to find parts made over 55 years ago is not easy. Trying to find specific parts by a specific manufacturer for a specific model is nearly impossible. But, I managed to use genuine parts from the same period, early to mid-1950's, some genuine Hikari and some made by other manufacturers. Over the next few weeks I will attempt to piece together my own Hikari. Below is a photo of the Hikari model I am aiming for. This is what I am starting with, a NOS (New Old Stock) frame I found on Yahoo auction two years ago. Same frame as in the photo above. Over the past two years I have collected parts and will assemble in the next few weeks. Fortunately, a good portion of the frame still retained the original protective wrapping. First thing is a good cleaning to get rid of over half a century worth of dust, grime and dirt.
