梅雨明けの道志道で山中湖へ

3連休初日で梅雨明け。 晴天。 道志道を通り山伏峠を経て山中湖へ。 ずいぶん前に、厚木集合で会社の人たちと、山伏峠は一度行ったことがあるのですが、一緒に行ったお二方が速いのなんのってついていけずに山伏峠を前に足が攣ってしまったことがあった。 今回はそのリベンジ的な意味合いもあり、ちょっとロングランに行こうかと自宅から出発。 さすがに三連休で6時半に出発し、車もすいていると思い町田街道を行こうとしたものの、結構な交通量があり裏道を通ることになった。 道志道はさすがに他の道路よりも車はすいているものの、それなりの交通量。 時折ダンプカーも通る。 山伏峠は標高１１００ｍで道志道は結構アップダウンがあり疲れる。 和田峠なんか斜度はキツイけれども短距離なので結構女性自転車乗り ...

Company Logo Name (Part 1)

次回、この記事の日本語版を投稿します。 One of the distinguishing features of vintage Japanese bicycles from the 1950's is the number of company markings found on a single bicycle. Nearly each part bears the manufacturer's name or logo, sometimes more than once. I recently was contacted by S-san who is the proud owner of a very well preserved Hikari Bicycle made by Dai Nippon Kikai Kougyou . This was quite interesting for me as two years ago I acquired an NOS (New Old Stock) Hikari frame and I am still working on finding parts for this Hikari frame . S-san was kind enough to send quite a few photos and I thought this would be a fine example to show how bicycles of the 1950's, particulaly the earlier portion, branished the manufacturer's name and/or logo. 次回、この記事の日本語版を投稿します。 In the previous posts on Company Logos& Markings (Part 1) and (Part2) we took a close look at photos sent in by S-san the proud owner of a very well preserved Hikari bicycle manufactured by Dai Nippon Kougyou. So far, we found a total of 65"Hikari" markings. There are also plenty of"Dai Nippon Kougyou" (DNB) markings, but we are focusing soley on"Hikari" markings; either spelled out in English or the Chinese character光 . We have covered the front wheel portion, handlebars and main frame triangle. This week we will continue our count and examine the the chaincase, crank arms, cotterpin covers and pedals. 先週末に出来上がったデモンターブルの引き取りに来て頂いたYさんからお便りを頂きました。納車日はあいにくの雨でしたがデモンタならこのように輪行袋に入れて連れて帰れますね。それにしても先日のKさんも今回のYさんも５０歳記念オーダー。店長の５０歳記念は何だったっけ。そうそう、ボロボロのイタリア製中古車でした。ピカピカのグランボアとはちと違いますがやはり人生半世紀はアニバーサリーですよね。
Yさん、永らくお待ちいただきましてありがとうございました。今度は京都ツーリングを楽しみにいらして下さいね。
